SoftHammer

SoftHammer is a felt piano sampled by OrcheStone and shared free on Pianobook. The piano is about 40 years old and has been felted to soften the attack. Instead of three real microphones, it offers three simulated mic signals. One aims for a modern, realistic tone. One adds a warm, vintage valve colour. The third is brighter and closer. Release samples are included, so notes fade away naturally. The overall sound is soft, muted and fairly dark. It suits quiet drama, grief, memory scenes and late-night moments on screen. The catch is that the mic choices are modelled rather than recorded. The page also says little about the piano itself or how it was sampled.
